Udyan Singh founded Banka Silk in 2015, drawing the name from the district of Banka, which is his native place. A pioneer in film making turned into a social entrepreneur and a humanitarian, he has designed and successfully executed several projects in livelihood creation for both conventional and non-conventional sectors, agricultural development, student welfare, youth development and various other schemes for the marginalized and socially excluded people.

He started his professional journey as a Civil Engineer, serving the railways for more than 5 years, after which he took a leap of faith in the media and entertainment sector. He utilized his creative skill-set to produce ad films and several television serials. He has earned Excutive management from IIM Ahmedabad. He has chaired the youth division of Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) for the Bihar State Chapter, is the Founding Member of Indo-American Chamber of Commerce for the Bihar & Jharkhand Chapter and is also the Brand Ambassador for The Red Cross Society, Banka District.

At Banka Silk, he is positively impacting the lives of over 40,000 weavers in Bihar and Jharkhand by bringing their age-old craftsmanship to the world through socially responsible and environmentally sustainable design. His resolve in reviving and bolstering the fading culture of hand-loom and its artisans has started shaping a once bleak scenario into a promising socio-economic horizon. He is championing for the role that art and culture can play in transforming cities and communities by leveraging its power to act as a catalyst of change, growth and transformation of place.
